The Comptroller's Strategic Sourcing effort optimizes the use of taxpayer dollars by:
- identifying savings opportunities,
- establishing enterprise contracts for commonly purchased goods and
- monitoring vendor performance for long-term cost savings, especially
for high-volume, high-dollar commodities and services.
Strategic Sourcing Contracts Save $134M
Analyzing state contracts realizes efficiencies. See where tax dollars are being saved.
The awarded contracts provide the tools for State Agencies, Universities and Texas Co-Operative Purchasing Members to: (1) increase quality and service; (2) reduce the total cost of goods and services; (3) improve relationships with contracted vendors; and (4) simplify the requisition-through-payment process.
How We Support State Agencies and Local Governments
Now more than ever, state agencies and local governments are being asked to do more with fewer dollars. Strategic Sourcing combines the purchasing efforts of more than 200 state agencies and more than 1,900 local government members of the State of Texas CO-OP (schools, cities, counties and other entities) to use the State's "buying power" and purchasing expertise to get the best values for all organizations.
How to Order from these Contracts
Use the links under Awarded Contracts on the left side of this page or on the Awarded Contracts page to read about and purchase items under these categories. Many of the contracts executed through the Strategic Sourcing division can be found via the TxSmartBuy ordering system. TxSmartBuy online shopping connects agencies and CO-OP members with vendors via an online store. The website lets eligible organizations search products, compare prices and place orders. The shopping cart collects and stores purchasing data, which the Strategic Sourcing Division will use to continually improve enterprise contracts.
